This album seems to be referred to as “vintage” or “classic” by many. It originated with some songs that MJ had written while being in John Norum’s band, but after they were rejected by John, MJ shopped around on his own. The original singer for the project, Göran Edman, couldn’t decide who to work with, and wound up in Yngwie Malmsteen’s band.

Eventually MJ got signed based on the strength of two of the tracks, and started looking around for musicians. Fruitless auditions ensued, but then (ex Wasa Express guitarplayer) Cary Sharaf suggested that JSS might be available. JSS was called, he got the material, said (obviously!) yes.

The album was recorded spring 1989. Just when the mixing was finished, the label went bankrupt. Nothing happened for some time, and JSS US based project Eyes got signed. MJ left for LA where he was helping Eyes demo and record what would eventually be their first release. During this time somebody from the label that originally signed Talisman had found a new label to work for, and they got to buy the masters from the bankruptcy. So early 1990 the album got released in Sweden on Airplay/Vinylmania.

After a couple of weeks, the first single “I’ll be waiting” took off (#2 on the “Trackslist”, major radio show, top ten on the singles chart) and the album sold some 30.000+ records in two months. Then the label went bankrupt. The band did some touring (featuring Jason Bieler lead guitar & Jake Samuels drums & Thomas Wikström kbds+backing vox), and charted top ten on the attendance chart that summer.

Even though the album had done well enough to get MJ signed to Warner Records, Jeff had already committed to the Eyes album release in the States. So for a while, this was it for this album. Eventually it would get re-released on Dino/Empire with some bootleg quality video camera sound live tracks. For this release we will keep those and add some other previously not so easy to find stuff.

In this record Marcel Jacob played and recorded Guitars, Bass, Keyboards and Drums
